The use of UAV for geothermal exploitation monitoring

Geoscan group of companies together with scientists of Grozny State Oil Technical University, Vernadsky State Geological Museum and Department of Geology and Geomorphology of Bashkir State University conducted researches of the use of UAV for geothermal exploitation monitoring on the example of the Khankala field. With the use of "Geoscan 201" UAV and thermal imager survey of Khankala geothermal plant has been conducted, heating systems and geothermal fluids have been analysed, thermal anomalies have been identified, and a ground reconnaissance has been performed for the purposes of verification.

Results of the study demonstrated a high potential of unmanned aerial vehicle based thermal imagery use for environmental and technological monitoring of geothermal fields under operation. More details on the results of the study can be found in publication in the Journal of sustainable development of energy water and environment systems.
